Last of the Mulliner Park-Ward FHCs ~
pre-Corniche in super original presentation
This is a Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow 2-door saloon by HJ Mulliner Park-Ward. The model is often referred to as a Fixed Head Coupe ("FHC"). This example is of one of the last made, later to be renamed by Rolls-Royce and produced as the "Corniche". FHCs are becoming a rare find in this condition and are becoming more and more sought after by collectors. This one is a very fine chrome bumper example that suits both the connoisseur driver and collector.
This car the car was originally sold new in California on November 30, 1970. She resided in California for some 30 years before being relocated to Texas up until 2015 where it then transferred to Kentucky up until purchase by us very recently. Being a “dry-state” car, she is entirely clean and rust-free – as you would expect.
The history records on this FHC are truly amazing and rarely seen for a Rolls-Royce of this era in the US; virtually every single service record and document going back to the original window sticker, purchase invoice right up until its most recent maintenance is on record. Some 2 inches of file records at that. The car was most recently owned by a life time member of the RROC (along with many other Rolls-Royce and Bentley motorcars) and has been maintained in a manner that you would only expect from a seasoned collector. This car’s provenance is A1.
The colour is Shell grey (silver) with a black Everflex top fitted. This combination is paired up with a black Connolly leather interior with matching carpets and floor rugs. The car is finished with a single black fine-line on the body waist-line and hubcap beauty rings. The overall combination is very elegant indeed.
The body is very straight with the paint some 30 years old. The car underwent a bare metal respray and was of an extremely high standard, however, it must be noted that it is now showing signs of breakdown in the finish. Although still displaying a good shine and lustre, close inspection will show light crazing commencing on the flat horizontal surfaces. As a driver example or even taking it to a Rolls-Royce event, she presents well, but there can be know uncertainty, she will eventually need a repaint. That said, she presents so well, you could easily enjoy her as-is for the next few years with simply a polish and wax on a regular basis.
The interior of the car is in stunning condition. The leather throughout is entirely factory original and in simply beautiful presentation. The leather is soft and supple and displays a very light and warming patina that is very natural in its presentation ("patina" does not mean tired, worn or ripped!), elegantly presenting the natural creases in the leather and regularly used areas like arm-rests and seat edges.
All the wood is in very good condition and although some imperfections in some corners, presents with an equally good amount of patina which certainly does not warrant refinishing. With the grace of Mother Nature lending her hand in the detail of the wood - the knots, the grains and the rich colours - it presents marvelously.
The original broadcloth headlining is in good condition without any of the "grubbiness" often seen on these wool headliners.
All interior feature and functions are fully operational including all electrics – seats, windows, gauges, clock etc. The A/C blows icy cold and heater working well. Everything is all so clean and crisp.
The chrome and bright work is excellent without any pitting and the rubber around the car is good.
Mechanically, the car is in superior condition and the presentation under the bonnet and under carriage clearly shows that. It has not been “done-up” for sale but maintained in original condition. All hydraulics and brakes have been thoroughly gone through and operating as they should. The car is being sold with Park-Ward’s “Predelivery Commissioning” process included which will present the car for delivery with every major and minor service done and up to date.
The car has travelled 102,500 miles and records appear to support its accuracy. Please understand, however, we always err on the side of caution and offer her “mileage exempt”. That said, she does look every bit of a low mileage example.
The car comes with the correct jack, tools and operating manual.
This is a 10 out of 10 driver example that needs nothing else doing. It makes for a gorgeous “weekender” that you could take to your next RR meet with pride and joy.
~~ Being a significantly way-above average example of a Silver Shadow 2 door saloon by Mulliner Park-Ward, and being in such original presenting condition, this will bring a good price. Notwithstanding, it remains sensibly priced. ~~
International bidders are welcome.

~~ **Please note: All Park-Ward Motors’ cars, once sold, undergo a process known as “Predelivery Commissioning” which is a detailed procedure for bringing all service and maintenance up to date before shipping to you as the new owner. As an experienced and professional restorer and collector of some 45 years, we have our own in-house Rolls-Royce dedicated service facility with qualified craftsmen on hand. Although our cars have already undergone workshop inspection PRIOR to being offered for sale, once sold, it will be put thru our workshop to ensure all major and minor services are up to date, is mechanically maintained in good shape and all major features and functions are operating as they should. The “Predelivery Commissioning” process ensures your new Rolls-Royce is turn-key. This is all done at NO CHARGE. We do this even though the car is contractually being sold "as-is". As a passionate collector of the marque I take great pride and pleasure in passing on any of these great cars to its next owner (“caretaker”). Who else selling a Rolls-Royce on eBay does this?! Depending on our work load, please allow approximately 21 business days for this process. For more information on the Park-Ward Motor Museum and our skills, please eBay message me and I would be happy to show you some 200+ Rolls-Royces restored to varying levels over the last few years ~~
